Statement

Educated at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, Joyce Hill has been exhibiting her work since 1982.

My mixed media paintings are created using texture, found objects, color and photo transfers. They are a visual display of my emotional journey.  I used photos of familiar figures, text, and poetry in the compositions to help translate these feelings for the viewer. Often I felt during these years I was walking a line of polarity, and you will see in the works that there are these contradictory negative and positive forces at work. The pieces are an attempt to control and balance the chaotic forces that were at work during  my life. 

Joyce Hill's work has appeared in international and national exhibitions in the United States and Canada, as well as in private collections around the world. She is a signature member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in NYC, The National Collage Society, and locally, a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists. She is represented by The Art Dialogue Gallery in Buffalo.

Joyce's work can be found in The Charles Rand Penney collection, The Legislature of Ontario, Canada and Key Bank in Buffalo.  Her work has won numerous awards around the country including Best of Show Awards in international exhibitions in Austin, Texas and Tubac, Arizona and awards from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club at The National Arts Club in NYC.
